Spider-Man: Homecoming is a 2017 American superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. It is the second reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise and a continuation of 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man, and 2016's Captain America: Civil War. The film is directed by Jon Watts, with a screenplay written by he and Christopher Ford and Jonathan Goldstein. Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland in the titular role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man with Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover (as Aaron Davis), Jacob Batalon (as Ned Leeds), Laura Harrier (as Liz Allan), Tony Revolori (as Flash Thompson) and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man. In addition to Holland, the film features Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, both reprising their roles from previous MCU films. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" begins three months after the events of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Peter Parker is spending his summer in New York City. His Aunt May, having been recruited into a program at the Triskelion (a secret branch of S.H.I.E.L.D. led by Nick Fury) while Tony Stark is in Africa. Peter's best friend Ned, has been selected by his father to take a tour of Stark Industries in Los Angeles. While attending a public exhibition demonstrating the safe handling of nuclear materials a bomb suddenly goes off, launching one of the exhibit's drones into a nearby building. The drone's irradiated payload falls to the ground and breaks open several containers nearby, releasing a dangerous gas which is inhaled by bystanders, causing them to become sick and die, nearby Peter included. In trying to stop the device from flying away Peter accidentally destroys it with his backpack's anti-gravity device which caused it to fall from the sky onto nearby cars causing them to explode from heat buildup. Peter wakes up weeks later with Stark saying he had successfully convinced the world that the boy was killed in the explosion. He enrolls Peter in school with his identity concealed, referring to him only as "Patient Zero". He also tries to give Parker a new suit, but Parker declines. While on a field trip at Horizon Labs, Peter discovers evidence of illegal weapons sales by Hank Pym (who is secretly the superhero Ant-Man).
